  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: About 25 chocolate covered strawberries 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Delicious and easy-to-make chocolate covered strawberries, perfect for a sweet treat or special occasion. Fresh strawberries are dipped in melted chocolate and optionally coated with coconut, nuts, or sprinkles for added texture and flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Coating

  • 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil (or grapeseed oil, canola, peanut, or other neutral oil)

Fruit

  • 500g / 1 lb strawberries (~25 strawberries, depending on size)

Optional Coatings

  • Desiccated coconut
  • Crushed nuts
  • Sprinkles
  • Other coating of choice

Instructions

  1. Prepare tray: Line a tray with baking paper (parchment paper) to prevent sticking and allow easy cleanup.
  2. Melt chocolate: Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-proof bowl. Microwave on high in 30-second bursts, stirring well between each burst until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
  3. Prepare strawberries: Pick up each strawberry by its stem or gather the leaves around the stem for a secure grip while dipping.
  4. Dip strawberries in chocolate: Dip each strawberry into the melted chocolate, rolling to coat most of the surface evenly. Place the coated strawberry onto the prepared tray.
  5. Add optional coatings: If desired, dip the chocolate-coated strawberry into toppings such as desiccated coconut, crushed nuts, or sprinkles, then return it to the tray.
  6. Set the chocolate: Refrigerate the tray with the dipped strawberries for about 30 minutes or until the chocolate is firm.
  7. Serve: Serve best within 12 hours of making for optimal freshness and flavor.

Notes

  • Note 1: Use good-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor and smooth melting.
  • Note 2: Adding oil helps the chocolate melt smoothly and creates a glossy coating.
  • Note 3: The number of strawberries may vary depending on their size.
  • Note 4: Chocolate covered strawberries are freshest and tastiest when consumed within 12 hours.
