Description
This Whipped Ganache Frosting recipe creates a rich, smooth, and airy chocolate frosting that is perfect for decorating cakes and cupcakes. Made with just heavy cream and chocolate chips, it’s easy to prepare and offers a luscious, creamy texture that melts in your mouth.
Ingredients
Scale
Ganache
- 6 oz. heavy cream
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Heat Cream: Warm the heavy cream in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between each interval. Continue heating until the cream reaches approximately 200°F, just below boiling. You will notice the cream starting to bubble and feel hot to the touch.
- Combine Chocolate and Cream: Remove the heated cream from the microwave and pour it over the chocolate chips. Stir gently until the chocolate chips are completely melted and the mixture is smooth with no lumps.
- Chill Ganache: Place the bowl with the chocolate mixture into the refrigerator for 1 hour to allow the ganache to set and thicken.
- Whip Ganache: After chilling, use an electric mixer to whip the ganache until it becomes light, fluffy, and smooth. Use this whipped ganache to decorate cakes, cupcakes, or other desserts as desired.
Notes
- Ensure the cream is hot but not boiling to avoid seizing the chocolate.
- Use good quality chocolate chips for best flavor results.
- For a firmer frosting, chill the ganache for longer before whipping.
- The whipped ganache should be used immediately or kept refrigerated until serving.
- Bring ganache to room temperature before re-whipping if it becomes too firm after refrigeration.
