Ingredients
Scale
Bread
- 4 slices thick crust bread (e.g., sourdough)
Avocado Mixture
- 1 ripe avocado (about 200g)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Shrimp Topping
- 400 g large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Garnish (optional)
- Fresh parsley (chopped)
- Chili flakes (for heat)
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare bread: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the bread slices on a baking sheet and drizzle each with a little olive oil to ensure crispiness and flavor.
- Toast the bread: Bake the bread slices in the oven for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside. This will create a perfect crunchy base for the toppings.
- Sauté garlic: While the bread is toasting, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to let the garlic burn as it will turn bitter.
- Cook the shrimp: Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet. Season with salt and black pepper, then cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the skillet from heat once cooked.
- Prepare the avocado mixture: In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe avocado with a fork until smooth but still slightly chunky. Add lemon juice, salt, and black pepper to taste and mix well to combine all flavors.
- Assemble the garlic bread: Spread a generous layer of the mashed avocado mixture evenly over each slice of toasted bread, creating a creamy and tangy base.
- Add shrimp topping: Place the sautéed garlic shrimp on top of the avocado spread for a savory and flavorful topping. Optionally, sprinkle chili flakes over each slice if you prefer some heat, and garnish with fresh chopped parsley for freshness.
- Serve: Serve the shrimp and avocado garlic bread immediately while the bread is still warm and crisp to enjoy the contrasting textures and flavors at their best.
