Ingredients
Scale
Meat and Vegetables
- 1 pound ribeye steak or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 cup bell peppers, sliced (any color)
- 1 cup onions, sliced
- Jalapeños, sliced (optional, for extra heat)
Seasonings and Oils
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
Cheese
- 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
Dough and Finishing
- 1 can (13.8 ounces) refrigerated pizza dough
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking.
- Cook Steak: Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced steak, season with garlic powder, black pepper, and salt, and cook for 3-5 minutes until browned. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté Vegetables: In the same pan, add the sliced bell peppers and onions. Sauté for 4-5 minutes until softened. Return the cooked steak to the pan and mix everything well. Remove from heat.
- Prepare Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle. Cut the dough into strips approximately 4 inches wide.
- Fill Strips: Place a generous amount of the steak and vegetable mixture in the center of each dough strip. Sprinkle shredded provolone and mozzarella cheeses over the filling.
- Seal Breadsticks: Fold the edges of each dough strip over the filling, pinching them together tightly to seal the contents inside. Arrange the stuffed breadsticks on the prepared baking sheet.
- Apply Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the stuffed breadsticks with the beaten egg to ensure a beautiful golden color when baked. Optionally, sprinkle a little extra cheese on top for added flavor.
- Bake: Place the breadsticks in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and puff up nicely.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the breadsticks from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes to set before serving. Enjoy warm for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- Use ribeye or flank steak for tender, flavorful meat; thin slices ensure quick cooking.
- Feel free to adjust the vegetable mix or add jalapeños for extra heat.
- Make sure to seal the dough edges tightly to prevent fillings from leaking during baking.
- Brush with egg wash to achieve a shiny, golden crust but omit for a dairy-free option.
- Serve with ketchup, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce for extra flavor.
