Description

Learn how to make a refreshing Aperol Spritz two delicious ways: a fruity Strawberry Aperol Spritz and the classic citrus version. Perfect for hot summer days, these easy-to-make cocktails combine the vibrant flavors of Aperol, Prosecco, and fresh ingredients for a light, bubbly, and slightly bitter drink that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Strawberry Aperol Spritz Ingredients

  • 1 bottle Prosecco (or dry champagne)
  • 8 oz Aperol Aperitivo
  • 8 basil leaves
  • 6 strawberries (4 smashed, 2 sliced)
  • Ice, as needed

Classic Aperol Spritz Ingredients

  • 1 bottle Prosecco (or dry champagne)
  • 8 oz Aperol Aperitivo
  • 1 can plain soda water (no flavor)
  • 4 slices orange
  • Ice, as needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberry Aperol Spritz: Place 1 strawberry and 2 basil leaves into each of 4 glasses. Using the back of a wooden spoon, gently mash the strawberry and basil together to release their flavors.
  2. Add Ice and Aperol: Fill each glass with ice to chill the drink. Pour 2 oz of Aperol into each glass over the ice and muddled ingredients.
  3. Top with Prosecco and Garnish: Slowly top each glass with Prosecco to maintain the bubbles. Add sliced strawberries on top and insert a straw. Serve immediately and enjoy this refreshing summer cocktail.
  4. Prepare the Classic Aperol Spritz: Fill 4 glasses with ice to chill. Pour 2 oz Aperol into each glass over the ice.
  5. Add Prosecco and Soda: Top each glass with Prosecco, then add a splash of plain soda water to lighten and add a hint of fizz to the cocktail.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Place a slice of orange in each glass for a citrus aroma and beautiful presentation. Serve immediately for a classic Aperol Spritz experience.

Notes

  • Use chilled Prosecco and soda water for the best flavor and refreshing results.
  • Adjust the amount of Aperol or soda to taste, depending on your preference for bitterness and sweetness.
  • Fresh basil adds a lovely herbal note to the strawberry variation, but you can omit it if preferred.
  • For a lower-alcohol version, increase the soda water proportion in the classic recipe.
  • The drinks are best served immediately to maintain the carbonation and freshness.
