Ingredients
Scale
Protein
- 1.5 lbs beef sirloin steak, thinly sliced against the grain
Vegetables
- 1 large head broccoli, cut into florets
- 1 large red bell pepper, thinly sliced
Sauce & Marinade
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Oils & Garnish
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
- Green onions, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, cornstarch, minced garlic, grated ginger, red pepper flakes if using, and black pepper until the cornstarch is fully dissolved, ensuring a smooth marinade.
- Marinate the Beef: Add the thinly sliced beef sirloin to the marinade, tossing to coat evenly. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator to develop flavor and tenderness.
- Prep Vegetables: While the beef marinates, wash and dry the broccoli florets and thinly slice the red bell pepper. Set aside for cooking.
- Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in batches if needed and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside to keep warm.
- Stir-fry the Vegetables: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon vegetable oil to the wok. Add broccoli and bell pepper and stir-fry 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp, maintaining their vibrant color and crunch.
- Add Sesame Oil: Pour the sesame oil into the wok with the vegetables and stir to combine, adding a fragrant nutty flavor to the dish.
- Combine Beef and Vegetables: Return the cooked beef to the wok with the vegetables. Gently stir and toss to blend all ingredients well and warm through.
- Serve: Serve the honey garlic beef and broccoli immediately over steamed rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired for an extra touch of flavor and presentation.

- Use low sodium soy sauce to control saltiness.
- For extra spice, increase red pepper flakes or add fresh chili.
