Ingredients
Scale
Almond Butter Ingredients
- 300g skin-on almonds
- Drizzle of good quality honey, to taste
- Malt loaf or wholegrain bread, to serve (optional)
Instructions
- Roast the almonds: Preheat your oven to 190°C (170°C fan) or gas mark 5. Spread the skin-on almonds evenly on a baking tray and roast for 10 minutes until fragrant and slightly toasted. Remove the tray and set the almonds aside to cool completely.
- Process the almonds: Transfer the cooled roasted almonds into a food processor. Blend continuously for about 12 minutes, pausing occasionally to scrape down the sides to ensure even blending. The almonds will first turn into a coarse meal and eventually release their oils to become creamy almond butter.
- Add sweetness: Once the almond butter reaches a smooth, buttery consistency, add a drizzle of honey and briefly blend to incorporate it evenly.
- Serve and store: Spread the freshly made almond butter onto slices of malt loaf or wholegrain bread if desired. Transfer the almond butter into a clean jar and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks to maintain freshness.
Notes
- Ensure almonds are completely cooled before processing to avoid overheating the food processor.
- You can adjust the amount of honey according to your taste preference or omit it for unsweetened almond butter.
- The blending time may vary depending on your food processor’s power, be patient until the butter becomes creamy.
- For a smoother texture, continue processing beyond 12 minutes if needed.
- Store almond butter in an airtight container in the fridge to keep it fresh and prevent spoilage.
