Scale
Protein and Vegetables
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Sauce and Seasoning
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ cup beef broth or water
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Others
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- Cooked rice, as needed (for serving)
Instructions
- Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and beef broth (or water) together until well combined. Set aside.
- Heat the oil: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Cook the ground beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it apart with a spoon and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add garlic and ginger: Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger with the browned beef, cooking for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Cook the broccoli: Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and stir-fry with the beef for 3-4 minutes until tender but still crisp.
- Add the sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and broccoli, stirring to coat evenly. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Season to taste: Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
- Serve: Serve the beef and broccoli hot over cooked rice and garnish with sliced green onions.
Notes
- For a lower sodium version, use low-sodium soy sauce and reduce added salt.
- Oyster sauce can be substituted with hoisin sauce for a different flavor profile.
- Ensure broccoli florets are bite-sized for even cooking.
- Cooked rice can be brown or white depending on preference.
- For extra heat, add red pepper flakes or sliced chili during the garlic and ginger step.
