Ingredients

Scale

Sauce Ingredients

  • 4 cloves Garlic, peeled and grated
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Fresh Ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper

Main Ingredients

  • 2 packages Fresh Yakisoba Noodles, seasoning packets discarded
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 1/2 Onion, sliced
  • 3 stalks Celery, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups Green Cabbage, shredded
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: Peel and grate the garlic cloves and fresh ginger into a small bowl. Add soy sauce, brown sugar, and ground black pepper to the bowl. Stir the mixture well until all ingredients are combined. Set the sauce aside.
  2. Prepare the vegetables: Slice the celery stalks and onion thinly and set aside. Shred the green cabbage and have it ready for use.
  3. Loosen noodles: Remove the seasoning packets from the fresh yakisoba noodles. Place the noodles in a pot of boiling water briefly to loosen them, then drain.
  4. Heat oils and sauté aromatics: In a large wok or skillet, heat the olive oil and toasted sesame oil together over high heat. Add the sliced onion and celery and stir-fry for 1 to 2 minutes until they start to become slightly tender.
  5. Add noodles and sauce: Immediately add the drained yakisoba noodles to the wok, followed by the prepared sauce mixture. Toss and stir everything together for 2 to 3 minutes, ensuring the noodles and vegetables are well coated with the sauce.
  6. Finish with cabbage: Add the shredded cabbage last and turn off the heat to keep the cabbage crisp and fresh. Toss everything quickly together, then taste and adjust salt if needed.
  7. Serve: Serve the chow mein hot as a standalone dish or alongside your favorite stir-fry or Asian cuisine for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Discard the seasoning packets from the noodles to avoid overpowering the dish with salt.
  • Do not overcook the cabbage; turning off the heat preserves its crunch.
  • Use fresh ginger and garlic for optimal flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of soy sauce and salt to your taste preference.
  • Fresh yakisoba noodles can typically be found in Asian grocery stores or the refrigerated section.
