Ingredients

Scale

Dip Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
  • 1 1/2 cups diced dill pickles
  • 2 tablespoons pickle juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried chives
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Breadcrumb Topping Ingredients (Optional)

  • 1 tablespoon salted butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

Garnish and Serving

  • Fresh dill, for garnish
  • Fresh chives, for garnish
  • Extra chopped pickles, for garnish
  • Potato chips, for serving
  • Cut up vegetables, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dip: In a medium bowl, combine the Greek yogurt or sour cream, diced dill pickles, pickle juice, dried dill, dried parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, dried chives, and freshly ground black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated and set aside.
  2. Make the Breadcrumb Topping: If you choose to use the fried crumb topping, heat the salted butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the panko breadcrumbs and cook, stirring occasionally, until they turn golden brown and toasted, about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the breadcrumbs to a plate to cool to room temperature.
  3. Combine and Garnish: After the breadcrumbs have cooled, stir half of them into the prepared dip mixture for added texture. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and garnish the top with the remaining toasted breadcrumbs, fresh dill sprigs, chopped fresh chives, and extra diced pickles for a vibrant look and enhanced flavor.
  4. Serve: Serve the dill pickle dip chilled alongside potato chips and fresh cut vegetables like carrots, celery, or cucumber slices for dipping. Enjoy as a tangy, herbaceous appetizer or snack.

Notes

  • You can substitute sour cream for the Greek yogurt for a richer flavor.
  • The breadcrumb topping adds a delightful crunch but is optional.
  • Adjust the amount of pickle juice and black pepper to your taste.
  • This dip can be prepared a few hours ahead and refrigerated to let flavors meld.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute panko breadcrumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs or omit topping.
