Scale
Cheese Ball Base
- 2 cups cream cheese (softened)
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup dill pickles (finely chopped)
- 1/4 cup green onions (finely chopped)
Seasonings
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Garnish & Serving
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill (optional for garnish)
- Assorted crackers or vegetable sticks for serving
Instructions
- Mix Cheese and Vegetables: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped dill pickles, and green onions. Mix until well incorporated using an electric mixer or a wooden spoon.
- Add Seasonings: Add Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Continue mixing until all ingredients are smoothly combined and evenly distributed throughout the cheese mixture.
- Form the Cheese Ball: Once thoroughly mixed, use your hands to shape the mixture into a ball. If the mixture is sticky and difficult to handle, refrigerate it for about 10 minutes to firm up before shaping.
- Chill the Cheese Ball: Wrap the formed cheese ball tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld and to firm up the cheese ball for easy serving.
- Garnish: Before serving, optionally roll the cheese ball in chopped fresh dill for added aroma and decorative appeal.
- Serve: Place the cheese ball on a serving platter alongside assorted crackers or vegetable sticks, making it a perfect appetizer or snack.
Notes
- Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easier mixing.
- Chilling the cheese ball helps it hold its shape and blends the flavors better.
- The Worcestershire sauce adds depth; however, omit or substitute with soy sauce for a vegetarian version.
- Adjust garlic and onion powder to taste based on your preference.
- Serve immediately after removing from the fridge for best texture and flavor.
- Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
