Cheeseburgers with Crispy Herbs and Savory Cheese Recipe

  • Author: Ethan
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 12 burgers 1x

Description

This classic cheeseburger recipe features juicy minced beef patties mixed with mature cheddar, breadcrumbs, and Worcestershire sauce, grilled to perfection. Served on toasted buns with fresh tomato slices, red onion, and crisp lettuce, these burgers are perfect for a hearty meal accompanied by your choice of sides like coleslaw or fries.

Ingredients

Scale

Burger Patties

  • 1kg minced beef
  • 300g breadcrumbs
  • 140g extra-mature or mature cheddar, grated
  • 4 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 small bunch parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp ground pepper
  • 12 tsp salt

To Serve

  • Split burger buns
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Red onion slices
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato sauce (ketchup)
  • Coleslaw
  • Wedges or fries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Burger Mixture: In a large bowl, crumble the minced beef. Add breadcrumbs, grated cheddar, Worcestershire sauce, finely chopped parsley, beaten eggs, ground pepper, and salt. Mix thoroughly with your hands to ensure all ingredients are well combined.
  2. Shape the Patties: Form the mixture into 12 evenly sized burger patties. Place them on a tray and chill in the refrigerator until ready to cook, for up to 24 hours. Alternatively, freeze the patties for up to 3 months by stacking them between sheets of baking parchment to prevent sticking, then wrap tightly. Defrost overnight in the fridge before cooking.
  3. Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill to high temperature to ensure a good sear on the burgers.
  4. Grill the Burgers: Place the patties under the hot grill. Cook for 6-8 minutes on each side, or until the burgers are cooked through and have a nice char on the outside.
  5. Toast the Buns: While grilling the burgers, place the split burger buns in a foil-covered tray underneath the grilling patties to warm and lightly toast them.
  6. Assemble and Serve: Let everyone assemble their cheeseburgers with their preferred toppings such as sliced tomato, red onion, lettuce, and condiments like tomato sauce. Serve alongside coleslaw and potato wedges or fries for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Chilling the patties before cooking helps them hold together better on the grill.
  • Freezing patties with parchment paper prevents sticking and makes it easy to portion later.
  • Cooking times may vary depending on grill heat and thickness of patties; ensure burgers are cooked thoroughly.
  • Feel free to add other toppings like pickles, mustard, or cheese slices for extra flavor.
  • Use fresh, high-quality beef for best taste and texture.
