Scale
Tea Base
- 1 tablespoon Dried Butterfly Pea Flower
- 2 cups Water
Sweetener
- 1 teaspoon Maple Syrup
Add-ins
- 1 Lemon
- 1/4 cup Milk
- 1/2 cup Coconut Water
Instructions
- Steep the Butterfly Pea Flowers: Place 1 tablespoon of dried butterfly pea flowers into a teapot or steeper. Pour 2 cups of boiling water over the flowers, cover with a lid, and let steep for about 3 minutes until the water turns a vibrant blue color.
- Sweeten the Tea: In a serving glass, add 1 teaspoon of maple syrup. Pour the steeped butterfly pea tea over the syrup and stir well with a spoon until the syrup is fully dissolved.
- Serve and Customize: Enjoy the tea hot or cold. Optionally, add fresh lemon juice from 1 lemon to create a color-changing effect and a tart flavor. For creaminess, add 1/4 cup of milk or for a tropical twist, stir in 1/2 cup of coconut water before serving.
Notes
- Steeping time can be adjusted to taste; longer steeping yields a stronger tea.
- The addition of lemon juice changes the tea’s color from blue to a vivid purple or pink.
- Use dairy or plant-based milk according to preference to keep it vegan.
- Maple syrup can be substituted with honey or other sweeteners as desired.
- Serving the tea chilled with ice cubes makes a refreshing summer drink.
