Description

This Banana Fudge recipe combines ripe bananas and rich chocolate to create a moist, decadent dessert with a smooth, fudgy texture. Enhanced by a hint of vanilla and optional chopped nuts for added crunch, this bake is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth with a unique fruity twist on classic fudge.

Ingredients

Scale

Banana Mixture

  • 2 medium ripe bananas (around 2/3 cup pureed)

Chocolate Base

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

Extras

  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or almonds, optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the fudge.
  2. Prepare Baking Pan: Line a baking pan with parchment paper, ensuring some overhang for easy removal later.
  3. Puree Bananas: In a food processor or blender, puree the ripe bananas until smooth. Measure out 2/3 cup and set aside.
  4. Melt Chocolate Mixture: In a saucepan over low heat, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, unsweetened cocoa powder, and sweetened condensed milk. Stir continuously until everything is melted and well combined.
  5. Combine Ingredients: Remove the saucepan from heat, then stir in the pureed bananas, chopped nuts if using, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix until evenly incorporated.
  6. Pour Mixture: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly with a rubber spatula.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until the fudge is set and slightly puffed.
  8. Cool and Set: Let the fudge cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Use the parchment paper overhang to lift the fudge out of the pan. Place it on a wire rack to cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • Using ripe bananas ensures natural sweetness and a smooth texture.
  • You can skip nuts for a nut-free version or substitute with your favorite nuts.
  • Store leftover fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • For a dairy-free version, use sweetened condensed coconut milk and dairy-free chocolate chips.
  • Make sure to let the fudge cool completely for clean cutting and best texture.
