For the Beef:
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 1 pound lean ground beef
For the Stir-Fry:
- 2 shallots (diced)
- 1 red pepper (diced)
- 4 cloves garlic (chopped)
- 2 Habanero chiles (thinly sliced)
For the Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 lime (juiced and zested)
- 1 cup basil (preferably Thai basil)
- 2 green onions (thinly sliced)
Instructions
- Add the oil to your skillet. Heat the skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef and shallots to the skillet, and cook for about 10 minutes until the meat is browned.
- Add the red pepper, garlic, and chilies to the meat mixture. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Slowly add the fish sauce, sugar, lime, and basil. Cook for another minute.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish with green onions and serve over jasmine rice.
